The pizza here is ok.  I usually come for the beer specials.  Its been a while but I think its around $6 for a pitcher of beer.  I just know its cheap and better than that wunder brewery shithole down the street.  This is a good place for groups.

Can't believe I've never been here until recently! The pace itself isn't the most hip and decor isn't the best but they serve up some yummy pizza! AND they are open late! Til 1 in the morning with delivery!

Pizza sizes include 12" 14" 16" and 18".. We went for the SM 12" Milano Special (salami, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms and bell pepper) $14.95 and an order of garlic cheese bread $4.50. Man let's start with the garlic cheese bread. DO NOT stuff yourself with this thinking you can eat this AND some pizza! The bread is thick and it was topped with plenty of cheese and lots of garlic. It's not just chopped garlic, I found whole garlic cloves in there so there were plenty of garlic flavor. An order of garlic bread came with 6 huge pieces! Pizza was also delicious. They do not skimp on their toppings. There were plenty of toppings for two pizzas! A 12" seems more like a LG to me. The crust was so good. Especially if you like sourdough.

They not only serve pizza, they also serve sandwiches, burgers, pastas, and a la carte entrees.

Service was fast and friendly and I can't wait to come back and try other food items here!!!

Came here with 20 people.  Granted that's a lot.  I'd called the day before and they said it was all good.  Everything went relatively smoothly.  They converted pint night ($2 per) to a deal on a pitcher.  Not $5 as in pitcher night, but $6 as in slightly discounted.  Not the best selection of swill, but MGD had to do.
The pies were awesome.  We got one of each of their specials, the greek, veggie, meat, and Jack and Dolores (the best- pesto, feta, canadian bacon and GARLIC!).  Well-cooked, even the veggie one, which can often get soggy.
Service could have been a little better (no place settings at one of the tables for way too long, forgot to take one table's order, not enough napkins) but the beer and pizza were brought fast and hot/cold as appropriate.
I want to come again on pitcher night with a few people to enjoy the ambiance.

Meh, ever since I stopped coming ever week... Milano's was my Cheers for about 7 or 8 months...... I have come in twice, once last Tuesday and then yesterday (also a Tuesday).

I think I may just be mad that my favorite people no longer work there and I don't get to walk in and say hey to everyone and have them call me by name.... reminisce... smile.

But it is different now, they don't know my name... last time the server did not even let me sit in the back like I always have!!!!!

So here were my qualms with last week.  Each one is a minus server point

1. Did not let me sit in the back
2. Took our order but only took mine, I'm guessing because I said we... but I only meant me plus one other.. not like me and the other 3 people at the table.
3.  My friend had to wave her down and then when he thought he got her attention, she told him to wait because she was seating a table (aka 3 people that had already walked toward a 3 person table) and had to ask how many people.... a good server would see 3 people, sitting at a 3 person table... and think maybe I should take the order of the people already here and bring these other people 3 menu's.  But no.
4. She brings a pitcher of Sierra Nevada that is way under the line (which angers me because its not even foam, its just not filled).  I wanted to say something but my friends said it was not a big deal (not a big deal till it only filled 3 glasses).
5. Brings a second pitcher that is the same... this I could not hold my tongue, so I politely say "I'm sorry, but that is not a full pitcher and the other one was like that as well".  She apologizes and fills it, although I can see her talking smack from my seat.

After my pitcher and cheesy pesto garlic bread I calmed down and stopped acting like an angry high school girl who just had her boyfriend stolen by a total BI$@h.  In this case my favorite staff being missing in action!

So in the end she explained to me that she was sorry for the miss pours and charged us for a miller instead which was $5 instead of $8..... so in the end I gave her a tip.... I was nice.

Then last night I came in and she let me sit in the back, I think she remembered me because our pitchers were quite full as well.  She was almost overly nice and brought us water and frosted glasses, which I never see happen.  I felt bad this day because my friends were supposed to meet us there and they bailed so we ended up drinking one pitcher and then leaving.  But she was nice enough to still charge us the cheap price even though we spent no money on food.  Your supposed to spend $5 a person to get the cheap price on Tuesday and Thursday, which is not bad for $5 pitchers of MGD and $8 pitchers of Sierra Nevada.

So I think in the end she is learning and I am just butt hurt that I don't get my name called out when I walk in or free shirts when I black out because I drank everyone else under the table=( ooh well, I'm moving out of the neighborhood anyways.

BAD, BAD, BAD!  Without a doubt, it was one of the worst meals I've ever had.  The so-called marinara sauce I had on linguini with clams resembled leftover pizza sauce, the clams were straight out of a can, and the pizza tasted like the ones from the frozen isle ... could have done better buying one at the grocery store.

It really was awful ... hard to believe that a restaurant like this could stay in business.

Three stars because this place is just ok.  In fact, I'm eating a slice as I sit here and type this.   Maybe I'm spoiled by east coast pizza, but there is fabulous pizza on the west coast too, this just isn't it.  As other reviewers have mentioned, it's in between deep dish and new york style pizza..but tastes more or less like frozen grocery, just fresher.  The crust is very doughy.  Maybe I over hyped the place to myself, but it smells soo good that I went in expecting something fabulous...but I definitely prefer the pizza at Cybelle's across the street.

Pricing is decent - 3.50 for a big slice of cheese - but toppings get pricey.  The hours are great, open late night.  Would probably like the place better if I had a beer or two!  It 's also super convenient if you living in the neighborhood, as I do.

I'll probably go back...just not that soon.

I grew up in this neighborhood, and, one Thanksgiving Day, while shopping for extra ingredients for the family feast brewing at home, my mom and I walked by good 'ol Milano's and--oops!--slipped inside to order some cheesy garlic bread and pizza, and sat right there and ate it. We then went home totally happy and continued cooking, telling no one of our holiday transgression.

Love this place!

Go there on Tuesday and Thursday, best beer specials ever!

3.75 for a pitcher! The pizzas are amazingly crispy and not so greasy. They also deliver! Come with some friends and enjoy!

Get the garlic bread with cheese and pesto, and some marinara sauce on the side. No other part of the experience can take away one of those 5 stars.

While I like Seniore's it's not at the top of my list of places I like eating. Everything is ok, but that's pretty much the problem. It feels like no effort is put into the food, but that's also why the prices are so good. My friend and I typically tour around and eat somewhere for a month or two on Tuesdays, Seniore's being one of the places. But it was more because or proximity to other places and the beer specials.

Just about the only decent place that is open past midnight in the sunset. If you know me or read my reviews or both,  you know that I tend to be a sucker for places that are open past midnight.

The pizza is good here and once in a while I have the meatball pasta. But what is best about this place is that you can hangout with your friends really late either shooting the sh** or having a writing session.

All in all this place gets 4 stars because its open late, the food is decent and service is good for the most part. But remember I grade pizza parlors on a curve ...

The only thing better would be if Oldman Milano himself, would include a story with the pizza he is serving you Of course there is no oldman Milano ... but more on that in the future.

Pros:
-Open Late
-Pizza is edible

Cons:
-Pizza is not great
-service can be slow, but is not most of the time

This is my favorite pizza place in SF.  Service can be slow sometimes, but the food's so worth it.  I always get a slice with pesto, mushrooms and garlic, and get the pesto garlic cheese-bread to share.  Mmmm...

I love Milanos. I have met both mr (insert un-spellable only recently spoken correctly greek name here) senior and his son (see previous)Wwho own Milanos and they are both engaging and genuinely nice people. While this does not affect the food, which is what I am reviewing, it is just another reason why I like this place so much.

I have had literally everything on the menu, and I can say, I havenot disliked any of it. The pieces are roughly the size of 1/3rd a regular pizza, and the sandwiches are made on their incredibly delicious house-made bread. I order my slices extra crispy,. and go week-on week-off between slices and a salad, or sandwiches (which come with a salad).

The pasta here is something I treat myself to. A whole portion is HUGE, but it is edible. Their sauce tastes real, like it has been cooked for hours... Not tinny or weak and acidic like most jarred sauces used by affordable italian eateries.

I probably like Milanos an inordinate amount, but that is not to say I am easily impressed. I have come to like them so much through consistent (average of 2 nights a week for 3 years) high quality (I could not make this level of food at home for the same price) and incredibly well priced (I ate here two nights a week while making $12 an hour when I first moved to the city, and could still buy a six pack).

Go to Milanos. I'll see you there.

Within a week of moving into our new place in the Inner Sunset , we knew we'd found our local pizza joint.

Most pizza places in SF tend to be greasy cheap take-out or yuppie hipster gourmet joints. Milano thankfully sits in a much-needed territory.. cozy but not shady. Lively but not pretentious. Plus the pizza is surprisingly tasty.

My only gripe with the place is that I consistently feel like a diva because they never have anything I ask for.

Fresh basil topping? No.
Meatball topping? No.
Oregano canisters? No.
Carrot on the salad? No.
Diet Coke? No. Pepsi.
Charge? No. Cash.

Ah well. I still like it.

The second I walked in I could tell this was going to be good--it has that extra zesty "we know what we're doing" village pizza parlor smell, and the cozy, warmly lit interior nails the parlor feel better than any other spot in the city.  It's a vibe I much prefer to the grab'n'go (eg, Blondie's, Escape From New York) or the pizza-bistro (eg, Delfina, Gialina) places.  Heck, even Paradise and Noriega are really more of *neighborhood joints*, not *village parlors*.  It's hard to describe, but somehow in my brain it all makes sense.

Crust is my favorite kind: hand-tossed, fairly thick, nice and chewy.  You don't get cheated on the carbs, that's for sure.  No complaints about toppings.  And oh, if it's a tuesday or thursday, perhaps you'd care for a $3.75 PITCHER OF BEER?  And not just god-awful Miller Lite, you can get Weinhard's (which, as a Northwesterner, I have an honest-to-God, non-ironic allegiance to).  Could that be the best deal in the city?  It just might.

I heart Milano Pizza!!!

When I first tried you, I fell in love with you.
After I fell in love with you, I want to marry you.
Then life happened and I had to move away.
However, I pass you by everyday on my way to work wondering... how life would be if we were married?
Marriage causes people to gain weight.
Thank goodness we did not marry.

I still love you tho...

If you ever want a cheap slice of comfort food, Milano's is the place to go. There is a convenient parking lot next door. Lots of Irish pubs and different bars on the same street and a few blocks over. I would suggest getting the mushroom, pepperoni, and olive pizza, it's to die for. The crust tastes fresh, it's never crispy or stale. Unlike most other Italian restaurants where I go, they don't overload the pizza with too much sauce. Best part of all, the extra cheese!

It doesn't matter where you're from, you know what pizza is. If you have tried it before then you know that it can be very good and very bad. If you haven't may I recommend a good place to start, Milano's Pizzeria.

Everything that you need to construct a good pizza, this place is able to offer. A light, hand tossed pizza crust makes for a good flavor, crisp, flavorsome and good for supporting all those heavy toppings. The sauce is my favorite part, rich thick and full of flavor. Almost like they make it there, which they might. I hope that they don't because I would like to buy some for myself, try my hand at making my own pizza.

They have a wonderful atmosphere a dim and colorful place to eat, nice staff and good music. Try going on a Saturday night when the place is full of talkative people make it even more fun. The eating is nice chairs and benches, and a back room for large parties, who need a little more space. It isn't hard to see why this place is one of the best in SF.

5 stars: open late

4 stars: eggplant parmesan - layers and layers of breaded eggplant baked under a thick casing of gooey cheese, minus one-star because you can't get this with a side of spaghetti .. you have to order another full entree of spaghetti!

2 stars: veal parmesan - got this because it came with spaghetti .. three thin slices of veal coated with breadcrumbs .. the veal was tough and needed a knife to cut through (which I didn't have on me .. it was a to-go order which I subsequently ate while having a beer at Yancy's) .. I didn't like the veal at all .. and the breading totally slid off the veal .. I ended up discarding the veal and mixing up the breading in my spaghetti ... I would've preferred Barilla's spaghetti with some Prego sauce made at home.

2 stars: bread .. thick slices of bread ... I don't find it appetizing but it's free.

I went here last night for maybe the third time and it was disappointing.  That's probably because I got pizza by the slice fairly late at night.  The crust was hard, there wasn't enough sauce, and the pepperoni slices were small and sparse.  Maybe it was just an off night but I'm probably going to avoid this place now.

This place is open super late; we came about midnight and it was relatively full.  The pizza isn't Chicago deep dish and its not New York thin crust...it is pretty good bay area pizza.  Nothing to write home about but nothing about which to complain.

It's always great to know that there's somewhere to order food past midnight.  After walking many many blocks in the cold AND in the opposite direction to find McD's in the inner sunset (it was a moment of desperation/weakness), we realized that it had already closed up for the night.

Fortunately, yelp pointed us towards Milano's and we managed to call in ahead while walking towards the restaurant.  As another reviewer wrote, it's not Chicago deep dish and it's not New York thin crust.  It's somewhere in between those options and frozen pizza you would pick up from the supermarket.  We ordered a half mushroom/sausage and Hawaiian pizza.  While I'm not going to say it's the best pizza I've ever had (crust seemed to be a little undercooked/not good), it's definitely a viable option at 1 am.

Based on the drink menu/deals for pitchers, I'd rather come here for a round of drinks + pizza, but not the pizza alone.

just got delivery from this place and man the portions are huge! i ordered the chicken cacciatore and they literally gave me like half a chicken! and for some reason i ordered a lasagna and it came in two containers i have no idea how big the lasagna's supposed to be but it was a whole lot of food in the end. the garlic bread w/ pesto & cheese was pretty good and i also got a spaghetti w/ meat balls & added mushroom i havent touched that one yet cause my bf and i are stuffed! their complimentary bread that comes with your entrees are huge! and we got like 4 pairs of it seemed like a whole loaf of bread almost. the price was impressing too. lets see the bill..

spaghetti w/ meat balls & add mushroom
chicken caccaitore
lasagna w/ meat sauce
garlic bread w/ pesto & cheese

total w/ tax $37.52

good portions, good price, okay food :]

okay food because the food or meat sauce was a bit too salty i guess the chef had oily hands and dropped the whole salt shaker in the pot!
im pretty sure the food there is good if it wasnt so salty or if the chef's tastebud wasnt sooo......... you know... but other than that it was great :]

My girlfriend and I had the "ultimate vegetarian pizza" and it was totally underwhelming. There is a beer special but the really good deal is for beer pitchers on Tue. and Thu. only. Prices are $12+ for 12" and $23+ for 18" Tasteless decoupage on table tops and tacky framed photos plastering the walls.  Average service.

I went here with a giant group and received the best service I have ever had for a group our size. Our food was prepared very quick and came out steaming hot! The best part was we had a new pitcher of beer on our table before we even had to ask...what more could you ask for?

The pizza is delicious and cheap. All the entrees seemed to be very reasonably priced for the fairly big portions you receive.

This is great place to go if your young and like to drink cheap beer and eat pizza.

There's a sign in the front window that says, Looking for experienced pizza chefs.  The sign has been there for a couple months.  Hmmm is that a good thing?

Update:  The sign is now gone! But replaced with a looking for a driver sign.

The pizza here is pretty good.  I'll come in and grab a slice to go once in a while.

Food = good
Service = terrible
Drinks = just beer and non-alcoholic beverages
Prices = good for the quality

So...just order take-out or delivery, and don't bother with sit-down, because they can and will forget you.

Oh and no credit cards.  So must have plenty of cash!

Maybe they're off their game tonight (Easter Sunday). I desperately wanted to like this place: we were hungry for pizza and nothing else and everyone was closed for the holiday. After very nearly placing an order at Round Table (then cancelling: $48 for 2 medium pizzas and an order of breadsticks?!?!!) we went with Milano based on Yelp reviews.

It got here quickly and was considerably cheaper, but oh man. The cheese was way too chewy, it was really skimpy on sauce and what little was there was way too acidic (Hello, Pepto!) and the crust was too chewy. What the hey? It was just awful. We all tried to make the best of it but after half a slice I pushed my plate away while the others dutifully ate one whole piece. The rest is going in the trash. Again, I really hope they're just off their game because others seem to like it.

Also note: they do NOT take credit cards. No big deal, but just be warned so you have cash ahead of time. I think we're just becoming spoiled by the number of delivery places that do take cards.

Milano makes a mean slice and is open on the late night.  When I'm desperate for dinner at 11:00 p.m., the cheesy cheese pizza sets me just right.  No way I give less than four stars.

The one time I tried spaghetti and meatballs to go, it was not quite as awesome.  I thought it tasted bland, but when my roommate got home, he thought the place smelled as if I had "dropped bombs."  No man, not yet.

I am a pizza lover and i look all over the place for good places to get pizza. Milano's pizza is pretty good. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and mushroom pizza and the pizza was loaded with toppings and was big. Of course I have never been to New York but I can tell this pizza is New York style with a bit of San Fransisco because the bread. A good place to get a good slice of New York Pizza in Sunset.

Maybe a 3 1/2.

The best thing about this place is, Pizza by the Slice!!!! Yeah!!!

For about $3.00 they will whip up a fresh slice of pizza from scratch, none of that heat lamp food court style stale pizza.

The crust is great, nice and crunchy. I'm anxious next time to try the pesto that looked pretty good. And the beer pitchers are dirt cheap on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This place can use a makeover, it looks like it's been there for decades and probably has.

I'm SO full. The pizza here never fails. I think it's pretty good, and I'll definitely be returning. I usually get the Milano Special.

The waitress was pretty nice, but it wasn't the best service ever. We sat in the back room, and although there wasn't anyone back there, we didn't get service right away.
Not a bad pizza place to check out if you're in the Inner Sunset.

It's been a long time since I've had their pizza so I'll save that part of Milano for a future update.  I stop in once in awhile for dinner, and I always end up ordering pasta.  The service is very good and the waitresses are friendly.  The wait for your food is very quick coming out of the kitchen.

On my most recent visit I had the half spaghetti and half ravioli with meatballs.  Your waitress will ask whether you want cheese ravioli or meat ravioli.  I've tried both, and I think I like the cheese ravioli better.  The thin spaghetti noodles and most of their pastas are cooked to a near-perfect al dente.  The plain marinara sauce is very good with a thick consistency and good tomato taste.  The portion size is very good too - enough to fill me up without being overstuffed.

The meatballs can use a bit of seasoning though as they were kind of bland in taste.  To me a good meatball should taste like a ball of meatloaf; these just tasted like an unseasoned ground meat mixture.  The meatball itself is nice and firm and holds together very well while not being very chewy.

Your meal usually starts off with a plate of fresh Italian bread and cubes of butter.  I love the thick slices of bread here which are soft and firm on the inside and fresh and crusty on the outside.

I'm one of those people who could eat pizza for every meal and never tire of it.  I love the deep dish and I love the thin New York style.  Milano's is kind of between the two.  They put a lot of cheese but it doesn't taste too greasy and the crust is amazing.  Doughy goodness.  I keep daydreaming about my friends and I having this as a regular meeting spot after work for pizza and cheap pitchers of beer.  Maybe we should form a softball team first so we'd have a better excuse to eat pizza and drink beer once a week.  That would be fun.  We could reminisce about tonight's game, the great plays, the hilarious follies, the mullets on the field and of course and how we stomped our competition.  Yes, a softball team, that's what we need.

This place smells amazing every time I walk by. I suddenly crave pizza whenever I walk down 9th. I finally tried it, and while it is good, solid American-style pizza, it is nothing to wrote home about (however, not below a Yelp review).
