I have to say, I am disappointed this place has closed. I was here a couple months ago with some friends and wanted to celebrate my birthday here, until i was given the bad news of its closure.

It's been a long time since I have found a place where the Martini not only tasted great but were consistent and I cleaned my plate AFTER appetizers and salad! The duck was fantastic! I am still dreaming of it!

I really wish it didn't have to come to this... RIP (Rest In Palate) Myth!

Great spot.  Cool decor.  Great food.  Wonderful service.  Would be 5 stars if I didn't have the memory of my fat ex being there.  But seriously it's a great place.  Oh and some yummy desserts :)

Ok I guess they closed.  But whatever.  It is still important for people to know what is or what was good in SF.  Hey ya never know, maybe the myth chef or other chefs will have followings that way.

Love Myth.  Whether it is for drinks at the bar and some lite apps, a romantic dinner, or a business meeting.  The sommelier is very helpful and was an excellent resource when pairing the complex dinner combinations we always came up with.  Meals were served, timely, and the atmsphere is spacious, so a group can feel like they have quite a bit of privacy.  I've come here in jeans and heels and full pant suits.  I hear it is changing hands so I'm a little sad about this but it has always been a pleasure.  The menu doesn't change to much is the only downside I would say.

The prosciutto pizza with gorgonzola and basalmic glaze was a close second for my "last meal on Earth."  Ahhh-mazing.  They're getting a new chef soon (if they haven't already) so get it while you can.

The private room in the back is perfect for small-ish parties (about 8).  The service was exceptional...I WISH I could remember the waiter's name so I could give him the props he deserved.  The somalie gave terrific wine recommendations and the desserts were beautiful and pretty darn tasty.

When I call the recording says they're under renovation and expect to open around May 20th.  Ok it's only May 25th but the outgoing message hasn't changed - BOO.  Shouldn't it be updated so hungry patrons can know what's going on??  I read an article online that they closed for good.....boo again, I really wanted to try this place!

I should have known better when I heard that the head chef had left and the restaurant would soon be closing for reorganization due to new ownership.

my duck entree was bleeding on my plate. I had requested it to be cooked more on the well side. while i understand that duck should be served medium, i prefer most of my food cooked through. our french waiter looked horrified as I requested this, and at that point, I should have just ordered the quail instead. on top of a bloody duck, everything else was oversalted as if salt would make up for the lack of flavor.

the space is well designed. theres a lounge area in front, as well as a beautiful private room that seats a party of 8 at a long narrow table in the back. at some point I may be inclined to dine here again, but I'll wait until they get their restructuring done first.

I can't believe it has taken me this long to write a review on Myth. I had been eating at this place rather regularly when they first opened, as I only worked around the corner. It was one of my favorite restaurants in the city.

It works well for a small party of 2 or a larger dinner party of 7. The food was always excellent and their wine list was complimentary of their menu.

I can't say a bad thing about this restaurant but can only give it 4 stars now due to the management shift. I'm sure I'll be updating this review in a month or so.

Loved the place, loved the food, loved the service!

We had reservations via OpenTable at 7. We were seated promptly in this open but intimate area near the back of the restaurant. We had a great booth that felt like we were outside due to the full skylight ceiling and the surrounding brick walls with open windows that allowed us to look over the rest of the dining area.

Our waiter, Louis, came and explained the menu to us and took our drink order. I had a glass of Prosecco and my friend had a cocktail consisting of wasabe and cucumber something. She really liked it and we both ended up with another glass of each later.

We started with the oyster appetizer that was fantastic. The sauce they used was so good and had just the right amount of kick. It went well with our drinks and bread.

I had the Asian pear salad and my friend had the Ahi poke. She was surprised when the fish came out in slices (not typical style of poke) but she realized that the quality of fish was so good and it would have been a shame to butcher it.

For the main course we had the gnocci and the Alaskan halibut. Both were delicious and the tastes were wonderful. I asked for a second glass of Prosecco at that time and it came late, so Louis said it was on the house.

For dessert, the caramel pot de creme caught my eye and I was not disappointed. My friend had the gingered lime sherbert with mint granita dish that didn't come at the same time as mine, so I asked about it. Louis came to the rescue and brought us two glasses of Moscato (on the house as well) to end our evening with a smile.

Louis mentioned that the restaurant will be closing in a couple of weeks? to undergo some remodelling and will reopen a month after. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

(I am still in amazement that I can spend the same amount of money somewhere else yet feel so differently about the experience. Myth just raised the bar so I won't settle now.)

Update: I verified yesterday night during dinner that the restaurant has been sold and this is the FINAL WEEK to eat there under the current chef. The new chef/sommelier team are from the Ritz.

Excellent service from French waiter. Excellent wine list. Excellent food. Love the ambiance.

Had a delicious risotto w/mushrooms, pasta with fois gras cream, and scallops with truffle. Boys had the spare ribs and loved them.

P.S. The private room is quite nice. A bar-height table that fits about 12-16 people with white pillar candles above the table, exposed brick wall, heavy brown curtains, and white sculptured faces on the walls. It appears that they have another private room that is glassed-in, which is much larger.

Gorgeous interior and nice vibe, but the food here leaves A LOT to be desired.  My trout was so flavorless, I was constantly reaching for the salt shaker - something I rarely ever do.  Service was OK and the wine is fantastic, but there is no excuse for the poor quality food here.

I was, however, impressed by the dessert selection.  Oh, and I love that they offer small and large versions of the entrees - perfect for girls with small stomachs like me.  Even still, food sucks - I won't be back.

Say it's just a MYTH that this restaurant is going away!!!  I had the most amazing dinner here last night.  Perhaps it was the company, but, let me not gush about him.  The ambiance & decor was so cool and upscale.  The food was delicious, especially the souffle dessert.  And the wait staff was perfectly attentive & not interruptive.

Former MC2 with much new lighting & decor... & so the renovated ladies room, arr.... I thought to myself, this place have a future with "moi!"

A long walk through all of velvet chairs & curtains before I reach to the ladies room... Nice, I thought if they could pay this much attention for a lady, can't you imagine the food....

Naw... I was a bit disappointed!! Was it I'm too spoiled with my experience in French food, nor their taste just too plain for me... Ummmm...I thought hard... I got to come back...
So I did... The taste simply doesn't change.....

1 STAR for the ambiance, 1 STAR for the service, & 1 STAR most DEFINITELY for the ladies room!!

Food another 1/2 STAR...

Like people say food is all about preferences, Myth is just not for me!!! & trust me, I've dined out enough in my life ;-) Somethings about the taste just doesn't cut it for me :-(

So disappointing after all the good Yelp reviews. Service was okay, but with an attitude. Food was overly rich and salty. Ambiance felt like a senior center. Plus, the logo'd shirts, sugar packets, and bathroom towels felt almost like I was at the Lobster.

My first collection of mythology was a lavishly illustrated book discussing the Deities and myths of Ancient Greece. And surprise, surprise, even as a taciturn child I CALLED BULLSHIT: see, I loved them as NARRATIVES -- though I of course, at eight years old, didn't know that mythos means "story" -- but they TOTALLY FAILED AS TRUTH. I mean, there's no way a fully-grown Athena sprung out of Zeus' head because MEN DON'T GIVE BIRTH -- everyone knows that ADULTS SPRING FROM WOMEN'S HEADS, IDIOTS! Oh and don't come at me with your fucking Richard Rorty impersonation by saying truth is relative and subjective! I BLAME ALL YOU RELATIVISTS AND YOUR TERMINALLY CHIC SOPHISTRY FOR THE MORAL DECAY OF OUR BELOVED COUNTRY with your truths in an extra-moral sense bullshit and cultural sensitivity! And while we're at it, fuck you too Nietzsche -- WHO'S THE CRAZY BITCH NOW?!?

I'll tell you this: it's a truth that if I kick you in the balls you'll keel over in pain but if you want to DISPUTE that, fine, HERE COMES MY FOOT. How's that for subjectivity, asshole?!?***

All of this is to say that I was quite skeptical about my first dinner at Myth. The food at Myth The Restaurant has received a lot of praise and I was DYING for the opportunity to say "my unwashed ass tastes better than this food" or something equally disgusting but GUESS WHAT?!? There actually IS a grain of truth to the excellent reviews of Myth The Restaurant, as opposed to the more common Myth The Lies We Use To Explain Cataclysms, Human Sacrifice, And Why I Fucked Your Husband (Men Are From Mars).

The gnocchi may very well have been the BEST gnocchi I have ever had -- and YOU KNOW I'm not given to hyperbole, so this statement actually means something. An almost crisp outer shell concealing a billowy and smooth mascarpone and potato center. And I've rarely had better pork than my entree, the Brined and Grilled Pork Rib Chop.

On the other hand, the pizza was a tremendous disappointment: limp, tasteless, and indistinguishable from its CPK brethren.

My friend and I were seated in the lounge area since we had no reservations. I didn't have a problem with this at all. The corner couch was comfy and we had an excellent view of the restaurant. There were two small cylindrical tables in front of the couch, as well as a few short wooden footrests. The waitress came by with a place setting for my friend and put it on the tiny table. But when she returned with MY place setting, did she put it on the other small table? NOPE, she put it on the footrest!! OH. NO. SHE. DIDN'T. A word of advice? In the future, DO NOT PUT MY PLACE SETTING ON THE FUCKING FOOTREST! CRAZY POCKET GAYSIANS ARE PEOPLE TOO! I mean, fuck, I know I'm short, even REALLY FUCKING SHORT, but give me a break and please don't SEAT ME AT THE MOTHERFUCKING KIDDIES' TABLE!!!

Also, this was yet another restaurant where Darin The Fag played one of his FAVORITE games, Scare The Hets, albeit unwittingly. I don't know why, but for some reason people would come by, look at the both of us in our resplendent faggotry, and quickly turn on their heels and leave. I usually have to talk about blowjobs or take off my clothes in order to provoke THAT response, but no, we were only talking about Clinton vs. Obama. Go figure.

All in all, around $160 for two (including drinks of course, we're fucking lushes) was a fair price to pay for the realization that some myths are tenable.

***Don't send me angry PMs or hateliments contesting my erroneous representation of the relativist's stance. Bitch, please. I'm fully aware of the fact that this is an UTTER MISREPRESENTATION of relativism -- let's not forget I also majored in philosophy, which means I SPECIALIZE in setting up specious arguments and strawmen in order to easily criticize them, thus proving my innate moral and intellectual superiority. And fuck you.

A perennial favorite, b/c:

You can tell someone spent significant money on the decor

One of the better wine lists in town. My taste runs toward the toe nail-curlingly dry whites given that I a gre up in the Pfalz (Palatinate,on the german side of the border next to Alsace) and I like my wines with high acidity. The sommelier is very knowledgable and is always interested when someone orders oneof the lesser known whites (like a Crepy or Apremont)

Among the more formal restaurants. I do usually find most West Coast restaurants too informal, and appreciate those who aren't

Great food (of course)

I'm a big fan of myth. The caviar and oysters were delicious. I tried a little piece of everyone's dish and they were all great. My favorite - they have an amazing cucumber martini of some type. I can't remember exactly because I had so many by the end of the meal. Make sure you look at the cocktail menu and try it. its a little spicy and soo refreshing. One of the best drinks I've had at a restaurant, period. The service was also great. We ordered a ton of food and alcohol and they were always attentive and even bought us a complimentary bottle of muscato for our dessert.

V-Day '08 review.

Even though this contradicts my reviews-should-be-about-the-food! philosophy, I have to start by saying the service was fantastic. I can be a demanding bitch, and every time I tried to hunt the waiter down, he magically appeared at the table within 5 seconds. Yet I was able to spend almost the entire the night alone with my bf. Impressive balance.

The decor is lovely, most of it reminiscent of any modern minimalist restaurant. Tons of ambient, still-dark lighting, which I love. The industrial brick walls create a nice contrast to all the sleekness.

So for the food...refer to my bf's review for more detail. Overall, I thought the food was good but not mindblowingly good, and expected for the price. I did really enjoy the scallops and the rigatoni.

The restaurant's decor is stunning--very urban chic with walls of exposed brick juxtaposed against panes of pristine glass and evenly painted stucco. The latin music in the background, open kitchen with its endless flow of stainless steel, and the smartly dressed wait staff all contribute to the restaurant's hip and modern feel.

Now, on to the food. We started with the chilled corn chowder. The presentation was playful. We were first served the rock shrimp, and then the server poured the soup on top, table side.  The soup had lots of corn flavor and the chilled temperature gave it an interesting mouth feel. We also had the scallops. The mashed potatoes and cream sauce that came with it were divine, but the scallops themselves were a smidge undercooked.

For our entrees, we had the seared duck breast and brined pork chop. Both were cooked perfectly. The skin of the duck breast was seared crispy but the meat underneath was juicy and succulent. I was also extremely impressed by how tender and juicy the thick cut pork chop was. I know Myth labels itself as a California/French restaurant, but these two dishes had a distinctly latin flare to them. To be honest, I did not love the flavors of either dish, but that's a matter of taste; the preparation of the dishes were undeniably outstanding.

We ended the meal with the Grand Marnier souffle. It was only mildly sweet and light as air. It was a very successful souffle, and my boyfriend loved it, but I had hoped for a dessert with more personality.

Our overall experience was wonderful, and we would gladly recommend Myth to friends and family as a place for skillfully prepared food in an oh-so swanky atmosphere.

So I guess Myth is closing its doors on the 29th.  I've always heard good things about it so I thought I'd check it out before the doors close for good.  All in all, not that impressed.  I mean, the food was good and the atmosphere was nice, but far from great.  The service was deserving of five stars though.

I will say it wasn't very crowded on a night and time they should have been packed... Hmm, could that be why they are closing?

I'm going to miss this place...

Anyways, do you know how I know that the food here is/was great?  I was here on awful date but still decided to have dessert.  Even when he said that he didn't want any.

I can't remember much about the boy (other than that he didn't realize that gazpacho is a soup) but the duck I had was delish.

Went here for my Valentine's Day dinner (a day early, actually -- even more than a month in advance I couldn't get a day-of reservation).  Sean O'Brien has already left as executive chef, and his sous was running things; I imagine the new chef will be in very shortly.

On the advice of Yelp, we went with the oysters, scallops, rigatoni, and quail.  One of the best things about the restaurant was they served half-plates of everything (except the oysters, already an appetizer), so we were order to sample 4 dishes between the two of us.

The oysters were excellent -- I particularly liked the lime-cilantro flavor -- but still too of-the-sea-tasting as oysters and roe often are imo.  The seared scallops were perhaps the best dish, with that perfect balance of crispy outside and juicy inside.  The rigatoni was very thick yet soft and chewy, an excellent texture, but I thought the foie gras cream a little rich.  It was best with a bit of arugla as well, which convinced me it needed another, earthier flavor to cut through the richness. The quail was somewhat disappointing -- too much stuffing, not enough citrus, I think.

Highlight was the dessert: I had a burnt sugar parfait, she had a lemon curd.  It wasn't so much that it was delicious, but between the two of us, there were 3 sauces (lemon, dried cherry, basil), 2 hard things (burnt sugar, almond sable), 2 cakes (chocolate brownie, lemon curd),  and 2 toppings (chocolate mousse, huckleberries).  Assuming you eat at most one of each per bite, that's 4*3*3*3 - 1 = 107 different combinations, way more than you can actually eat.  And I take it back, the basil sherbet was delicious.  I mean, didn't you see the "basil" in the name?

Not five stars because none of the entrees truly wow'ed me, and a place as relatively expensive (though cheaper than I expected) and hard-to-book as Myth needs to really wow you on the food to earn its 5 stars.

Fun for a night out.

I love eating dinner in the lounge. It's so much fun ordering a few dishes and then nibbling while laying about on those big lounge chairs.

We tried:  the Asian pear salad, rigatoni with fois gras marsala sauce, seared scallops, mesquite hamburger, and the mint granita with Greek frozen yogurt and the rhubarb crepe.

All in all the food was great except the hamburger and the mint granita which was too fake syrupy for me.  How they managed to cook all the flavor out of the hamburger I'll never know.

The service was great and the food was well timed. We had a fun evening in the louge just people watching and noshing on the small plates.

A fun place for a night out.

Warning: Extreme Deliciousness

So, pretty much everything I had, plus everything that everyone ELSE had at the table was fantastic. Everything was well prepared and no one could help but ask for a bite of everyone elses dish! We had great service, the kind where you never have to ask but they aren't drowning you in "how's everything here?" after every 3 minutes. The atmosphere is lovely and I would imagine it to be pretty sexy for a date or romantic evening. They also have a beautiful room available for large parties and there is also a bar where you can have cocktails before your meal. I need to go back soon, but I'm pretty sure I'll be called an addict unless I wait a little while longer.

Oh Myth, what happened?  I was so excited to dine one last time before the ownership/chef change.  But my meal last night was pretty darn average.  The gnocchi were fantastic (some of the best I've had) but everything else was decent at best.  The worst offender was the short ribs - way too much horseradish and something definitely foul with the red wine sauce.  Our bartender (we ate at the bar) noticed that we took one bite each and pushed it away and graciously took the dish off the bill.  He also treated us to a couple of desserts which was a nice gesture but again, they were a huge disappointment.

Come to think of it, other than the gnocchi the best thing about our meal was the service from Vinnie the bartender.  He kept our glasses full (the wine list is great and pretty affordable, all things considered) and was a great conversationalist.

I haven't given up on Myth completely but will definitely wait for Ron Siegel to take over the reigns in the kitchen before returning. And I'll make sure and sit at Vinnie's end of the bar.

*original review 3/28/2006*
Yum.  Great food, and the Orin Swift Prisoner that was recommended to us was amazing and a great deal ($44 on the wine list, we later found out it retails for $28)   The crowd was a bit older and the staff young and a bit scattered, hence 'only' four stars.

I hate to be a party pooper but I have to say that there were only two dishes that I enjoyed and even then I probably would not come back to have a second helping of those.

Either way the chef and the menu (possibly) are both changing soon so hopefully the new Chef leaves the horse radish out of the braised short ribs and cooks the risotto a little more.

Overall a nice restaurant with an excellent wine selection and GREAT staff.  Loved the bartender!!

Good place for business dinners or groups.  Half sizes available in dishes for appetizers.

Three stars for the food but if we had a separate rating for service then Myth would definitely get 5 stars in my book.

Date Rating: 6
Pick up Scale: 4

Strong Suggestion: Wait until the new chef arrives to come here.

Yummy, yummy, yummy.

I think my favorite part about this place is the fact it has absolutely delicious food.  Sure, the place is uber-trendy and sexy.  Sure, the staff is pleasant and efficient.  I don't really care.  The food is what I care about.

Note: dress nicely and bring your AMEX.

Sweetbreads to die for, a wine list from the gods, service fitting for royalty. All wrapped up in a jewel of a swanky, exposed-brick package. Mmmm...

I got surprisingly sub-par food and service there last Saturday night.  The pizza was burnt and the braised shortribs were rather flavorless, though tender.  According to the busboy serving the table (who provided better service than the waiter), there was no chef or sous chef at the restaurant.  They will close down in a week and re-open under new management and chef.  The name will remain the same.  I recommend that you stay away  until then.

Very good French food for the price.  I'd give the food alone 4 or 4.5 stars.  But as we know, a restaurant is more than just food, unless its a dive where you just go for the great food, you are paying for the other things that come with a great restaurant experience.

Ambiance, interior, and decor were all unique and made for a great space to linger for awhile in conversations that you later cherish.

Service was the serious weak link though, unfortunately, and this cost the restaurant one star.   Service alone gets 1 or 2 stars!!  I'm not picky regarding service, but this service was seriously lacking, below the quality of your standard low-end restaurant chain (IHOP, Denny's etc).  They forgot parts of our order (2 times!) and forgot basic things like refilling our water, etc.

I'd recommend this place as a good starter restaurant for someone who wants to experiment with French food, and perhaps they don't care about service that much and want to save money on experimental food choices before moving on to the more expensive French restaurants in the city.

The place does have potential.  Train the staff better.  They seemed untrained and unprofessional.  If the staff was trained better, more polite, and the food improved a little, this place could easily go to 4 or 4.5 stars...as it is though...barely makes 3.

It is kind of bizarre how a restaurant can have such good food, decor, ambience, and the service be so seriously lacking. Perhaps we got unlucky with 2 waiters and a manager that night?  But 3 subpar people is too much for this level of restaurant.

Their lack of service was even more glaring when we went to a dessert shop dive down the street and their service blew Myth's away.

After finding out Chef Sean O'Brien is leaving Myth, I had to get to Myth before his departure.
I really liked Myth.  I liked their cozy but modern decor.  I liked food which was complex yet simple.

I had:

1. Point Reys Oysters Marinated in Cilantro and Lime with Yuzu Tobiko - Great combination of flavors and textures.  I am not a big fan of cilantro but it was not over powering the dish.  The acidity of the lime gave the dish a refreshing finish.  The sweetness of tobico enhanced the sweetness of the oysters. The crunchy texture and aroma of yuzu gave interesting contrast to this dish.

2. Caribbean Shrimp Poke with Cucumber, Shiso, Hijiki, Soy Sauce and Kakui Nut.  The shrimp was poached perfectly to the milliseconds.   The shrimp was deveined in Japanese way with 2 small holes without a big cut on the back.  I think this way is better when it's poached because it holds in flavors better.  I am Japanese and I never had these Japanese ingredients together in a dish but I was very happy with the end result.  I am not sure about naming of this dish though...

3.  Fresh Rigatoni Pasta with Foie Gras Cream, Maitake Mushrooms and Marsala - Great dish.  I loved perfect balance of rich Foie Gras cream perfumed by Marsala wine.  The Maitake and the pomegranate seeds added great texture to this creamy dish.  Arugula on the top added fresh green bitterness.  I think it was an exceptional dish.

4.  Warm Pear Terrine with Toasted Cinnamon Brioche, Golden Raisin Coulis and Brown Butter Ice Cream - I didn't like it at all.  Didn't like the texture nor flavor composition.  I didn't eat them.

5. Chocolate tray - They were too creative.  Bad flavor combinations and textures.

I didn't like that they put silverwares directly on the table.  I did like they warmed their plates like they suppose to.

Even though I did not like and I didn't even finish their "Dorigo: Friulian Wines So Cool, They are Red Hot" wine flights, I appreciate their wine director Ales Fox.  He suggested Gruner Veltliner, Hirsch "Heiligenstein", Kammern / Kamptal (Austria), 2005 and Nebbiolo, Cascina Adelaide, Barolo (Italy) 2003 for the dinner.  For the dessert wine, I had Scagliola, Moscato d'Asti, Asti, 2006. They were all outstanding!  I had a great conversation with him as well.  It is sad he is leaving Myth.

I am interested in coming back to Myth when the new chef arrives.  I still didn't hear the confirmation that Ron Siegel from Ritz ( http://www.yelp.com/bi...  )is coming to Myth.

This is hands down my favorite restaurant in San Francisco.  The food is phenomenal.  The service is five stars.  Coming from an ex-NYC-er, Myth reminds me of what you would expect from the best in Manhattan, but without the attitude.  The wine list is also incredibly affordable for such a fine spot.  Caution, make reservations way ahead of time or this place may continue to be just a myth for you.

She Says:

This spot has THE BEST scallops I've had in my life.  Buttery and melts in your mouth goodness - no joke.  That alone should have people running to the door... and yet...

The decor is swanky galore.  Very chic but comfortable.  I remember when this place was a club, or at least coming in on a late night for some event and I really like the transformation.  The scene is an atmosphere that will bring people back... and yet...

The service was very good.  I want to say our waiter's name was Micah or something but to be honest, I don't really remember.  He had an accent and a sense of humor (tongue in cheek and all) and was pleasant.  This is important that a upscale resturant doesn't have pretentious staff...  Being welcomed is important ... and yet...

The rest of the food was fabulous as well.  We had the melon crab salad that was light and refreshing (although we shared this and it was of minuscule proportions!)  He says had a steak which was tender and juicy.  We like having a fish/steak combo between the two of us and we each were very pleased.  We came, I believe in August and finished with a chilled summer strawberry soup.  Simply delightful!

Overall, this is one of the best meals I've had in a long time... I was in food bliss.  I'm just waiting for an excuse to go back...

Nooooo!!!! Say it ain't so!  Sean O'Brien leaving Myth?  http://www.sfgate.com/...

Fortunately, I finally got here last night.  And had A Perfect Dining Experience.  Our server Laurent provided impeccable recommendations with a warm and professional demeanor.  And per his recs, I had the BEST GNOCCHI EVER.  The crispiness of the seared skin coupled with the amazingly soft (alright, pillowy), ethereal interior of the gnocchi is a master achievement.  And really, unbelieveably, tasty paired with the savory Wild Boar Bolognese.

Not to be outshined, the Seared Scallops with generous Chanterelle Mushrooms, Crispy Potatoes and Celery Root Jus currently stand as My Favorite Scallops.  Ever.  Playing with that sweet-savory-salty-crispy-soft combo that is a taster's dream, I almost wished I could find fault with it.

Bliss also seemed to be the key ingredient in the Grand Marnier Souffle.  And the complimentary baby Canneles served at the end of our meal.  Those Canneles.  Ooooo, those canneles -- chewey carmelized skin, puddingy interior with the loveliest sublimely Butter taste.

I like themes (thanks to Ms. Dorothy Friedlander, my 8th Grade English teacher at Hale Jr. High School, who also taught me to embrace Ray Bradbury, nuances and non-conformity).  The theme here is Perfection.  From the maze-like setting (minus minotaur) secreting hidden rooms and a Blow-Your-Mind wine cellar.  To the careful choice of reeds, orchids, vines adorning various aspects of Myth.  To the highlight ambrosia conceived by Mr. O'Brien.

Bliss.  Perfection.  Elysian.  Elysium.  Myth.

Go before he leaves.

Made it down to Myth the other night after reading an SF Gate article which mentioned that Myth is changing ownership, and hence head chef, sometime mid February. To anyone who hasn't been I would totally recommend stopping by before the shake up. The food was delicious. Especially the oysters which were served with some sort of basil oil which was really unique, not to mention delicious. Other plus': really cool, loft like brick interior, knowledgeable servers, melbec, and the fact that they offer to split all the dishes for you. Again, it was delicious.
