Schubert's!  I came in here looking for the world's best birthday cake or something that would come quite close.  Although Schubert's may not be world class, it sure is up there.  I did not want to buy a mousse cake so I got the Raspberry White Chocolate cake because my-long-time-no-see friend from middle school who works there recommended it, and I bought it, thinking it was a white cake.  However after the song was sung, wish was made, candles were blown, it turned out to be a mousse cake!  Imagine my disappointment... and then imagine the delight of my tastebuds when I had a bite of this cake!!  It was amazing.  I'm going to come to Schubert's now even if there is no occasion for cake.  Next time it's going to be the mango mousse.. yum.

I must have passed by Schuberts several times but have never once gone it though Mary constantly raves about the cakes here. The first time I tried their cakes was at a birthday party and the chocolate cheesecake was excellent and generously sprinkled with loads of chocolate flakes. I am never a big cake fan but i couldnt pass up the chocolate. Today, at the cafe I tried the Swedish Princess highly recommended by Daisy and it was rather nice and light and I loved how the wafer at the bottom of the cake added another dimension to it. I loved the light green marzipan on top, the chewy texture was rather nice. However, I was dissapointed that the cafe did not serve any iced beverages of any sort....and I wanted the cake to go with an iced cafe latte. I'll be back to sample other cakes but I'll probably share it with someone next time.

I remember my mom always bought the sprinkled cookies, chocolate-covered moon/star shaped cookies, jelly-filled cookies, etc. etc. from here. OMG they were so delicious I could finish it all within 2 days. Schubert's also has a huge variety of well-decorated cakes for birthdays or for one person. The mousse cakes are very fluffy and sweet. Their mango/raspberry mousse cake is the best!  I don't know how they do it, but their flower- and leaf-shaped chocolate decoration on top of the cakes are so precise and perfectly made.

Since this is pretty much the ONLY breakfast place on Clement that isn't CASH ONLY this was a regular stop on the way to the bus. Really yummy freshly baked chocolate croissants and strong coffee.

Everything in the cases looked amazing! Even the cookies shaped and decorated like watermelons. The descriptions of the cakes made my mouth water. If I'm ever having a party, I'm definatly coming here to get one of the strawberry cakes!

My most favorite bakery in the world... well at least in the grand circle of 100 miles....  I've been going for years.  I have never once been disappointed.  Not only does everything taste great but it looks soooooooooooo beautiful.  Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but if you don't mind walking a few blocks or driving around the block a couple of times it is really worth the stop.  Just to gawk if nothing else...

I bought a Neopolitan cake (which consisted of layers of chocolate cake, vanilla cake, and raspberry mousse) from Schubert's for a coworker's birthday.  The cake was delicious and lighter than the ones I usually get from Citizen Cake or Tartine.  Also, the prices are quite reasonable: $36 got me a good quality cake that fed about 15 people.

I can't remember never NOT having a birthday cake from here and I am going to be 25 in september (definitely having another cake). I remember when I turned 6.. my cake was white filling with strawberries and had little toy cats and pink ducks on the top! =D

So.. beautiful delicious amazing pastries and cakes.. You will NOT be disapointed. Prices are reasonable for the end product you get. mini mango mousse cakes? chocolate and pistachio filling? fruit and custard tarts? sugary merengue ghosts for halloween? A-freakin-mazing.

Even if you just drop by for a coffee and a croissant.. delicious. The staff is always helpful and friendly, its a clean place and everyone's in a great mood!

Every birthday with my family means a cake from schuberts.. and hey, a quick tip: want to impress your significant others family who are not from the city? give them a dark chocolate and rasberry mousse cake covered in lady fingers, dark and white chocolate shavings, and chocolate flowers and sticks... they will LOVE you forever. You CAN get to people's hearts with food! especially food from Schubert's!

None of that buttercream crap here.  Just real cream.
Not many bakeries have the variety they do, and manage to keep it so consistently good.  I didn't think that I would like the Swedish Princess cake, but that velvety layer of marzipan that envelops the layers of cake, custard, and raspberry actually makes me drool.  They have one of the largest varieties of cakes that are consistently good and beautifully detailed.  From whip cream cakes like the Fruit Basket, to the St. Honore you can't make a bad choice here.  Get here early or reserve your cake by phone, especially on holidays.
You will need to pony up for cake here....about $28-30 for a small one, but it is worth every penny.

So the bakery doesn't need another review, but heck...I'm bored and I can't seem to function at work.  I was introduced to this place by a San Franciscan 4.5 yrs ago. Yep, how often do you meet one? You get the transplants like me but give me another 5.5 years (I think 10 years should suffice for one to call him/herself a San Franciscan).

I've had every dessert/cake made here and never disappointed. This is my go-to place even if I just want a slice after my long day at Green Apple books.  Or find a nice senior citizen to shoot the breeze about love and the changes SF has gone through. It's a trek out to Inner Richmond and parking can suck but well worth the trip.

If you're in a bad mood, come by here and grab any one of those small little cakes or mousses.  That will keep your mind off of negative energy for a bit.  I wish they had good coffee here, though... It would go SO WELL with their desserts.  Try their tiramisu cake and their mango mousse mmmmm...

I love their mousse cakes - the quality of these cakes are consistently good!  Recommend you try the mango mousse cake.

We got our wedding cake from Schubert's as well.  These guys are pros - they met all our expectations (courteous service, good selection, on-time-delivery, and very reasonable prices).  We'd recommend them 10 times over!

I bought 2 cakes here within 2 days. Sunday, I went for the mango mousse, but they were out. Therefore, my friend suggested the raspberry mousse. The mango mousse is their most popular cake, so I expected the raspberry to be almost identical. The cake looked really nice (as most/all of us agreed). But I didn't like the taste/feel to it. But NO, I'm not hating on Schuberts. Its just that I'm not a fan of mousse (except for hair mousse).
Yesterday, I came back and saw the other suggested cake - Opera Cake. I had gone there a bit before closing, wanting a BIG CAKE (but knowing they wouldn't have one). I asked "is this cake reserved?" And they said, "no". It was meant to be. There it was, and there I bought it. Very rich. I liked it. My friend liked it. A beautiful $40 spent.

Beautiful creations are made here.

Very lovely cakes. I haven't tried everything, but I've had a few cheesecakes from this bakery for my birthday and it was delicious. It's a very cute place to walk-in and just stare at all the wonderful creations. Everything looks too pretty to eat! This place is an expensive treat though, so I only visit once in awhile.

I love this place, whenever I need to get a cake, this is the place that always hits my mind first. I remember getting this coffee or was it toffee cake for my mom for mother's day and she asked me where I had gotten this cake from and next time for any special occassion you need to come back here and get this exact same cake. I guess she loved it that much. I have to agree, it was really good... Really soft and moist, just like how cake supposed to taste unlike safeway cakes... all hard and dry... ew. Anyways the little petit cakes are really nice as well, small, but packs flavor! I love the strawberry shortcake from here. Oh, so, delightful! Next time I come here I want to try the cheesecake of the tiramisus... sounds so scrumptious!

The princess cake is one of the better ones that I've had.  I bought one for my cousin's bbq and it was an instant success!! People oohed and aaahed over it and it tasted great!

I can't wait to try their other items.

As I walked out, I just had to try one of their apricot pastries and it was really buttery and tasty.  Def. coming back for other items!!

Now this is how cake is supposed to taste!
Once a week I'm allowed to indulge and ever since I sank my teeth into the Strawberry Shortcake, this is my go-to place for yummy happiness.

Neither my dad nor Chris like cake but with a single slice of fluffy goodness, Schubert's has converted them both!

We're getting a very affordable wedding cake here and I can't wait!

I didn't want to spend a ton on a wedding cake, but I wanted it to look good and taste better.  Schubert's definitely came through.  We had 3 tiers and each with a different filling flavor.  It was moist and delicious... although I didn't get to eat a lot of it by the time we cut the cake.  Our guests seemed to lap it up.  The design was beautiful and similar to the picture we had brought in during our initial appointment.  Their delivery was on time, and Lorraine helped us out during the ordering process.  She was a sweetie and very easy to work with.

My brother and dad swear by the Swedish Princess Cake. But my brother just calls it the Swedish Cake because Princess makes him feel uncomfortable. Just to tease him, I tell people he likes the Princess Cake. Seriously though, they'll buy this cake for my birthday or anyone else's birthday, even if the person's favorite cake is Strawberry Shortcake or Chocolate something.

I really like the mousse cakes. Raspberry, currant, whatever. I love it. If cakes made people lose weight, I'd live off of this place. WORD.

I had the tiramisu and raspberry cheescake on my annual trip to visit friends in SF. They were delicious! Especially since I just stopped by Burma Superstar right before. But the tiramisu was light and fluffy and I could taste the coffee liqueur in the soaked lady fingers, which you must be able to taste in a good tiramasu.

The cheesecake was really rich but the tartness cut through nicely but I think it was lacking a bit more pungent cheese flavor. I had a taste of the rum cake--delicious, similar to the tiramisu but more chocolaty instead of coffee-ey. Yeah I don't think that made sense but I have a penchant for rum and liqueurs in my dessert and ice creams. Mmm rum raisin.

We got our wedding cake here.  The staff was helpful, they let us try more than the 'standard' number of samples after we couldn't make up our mind.  Also we changed the size of the cake as the date got close and didn't have and issues with that... and most importantly on our wedding day, the cake looked great and tasted great as well!  The only issues I would have visiting Schubert's again is parking can be a pain and not much room inside the store either.  But once you stuff your face with a sweet baked treat, you'll soon forget about those little problems..

Schuberts is not in neighborhood but always worth the drive over. What I love about this bakery is that they have a large selection of mousse cakes! I'm not into buttercreams, sugary icings or anything that is too sweet so mousse cakes are perfect for me. Anytime I've got to bring dessert to a party, Schuberts is always my first choice. They have beautiful cakes that always seem to be quite a conversation piece at parties No one ever wants to cut the cake because it's too pretty!!! I often buy cakes here in place of birthday gifts. Desserts are all about the love!

If you've never been here before and want to try it out, I strongly encourage you to visit the bakery first. Check out everything! They've got a few small tables if you feel like having coffee and maybe something sweet. The only bad thing is, trying to decide on something. Everything is spectacular!

I've been told that I rock because I bring the best cakes to the parties.  Thanks, Schubert's.
I was like 13, and my mom's best friend brought a Swedish Princess torte to my birthday party.  Ever since then I have been a fan in search of a bakery that does it justice (my fiance requests that it becomes the very top layer of our wedding cake!)  I found Schubert's a few years back (now I live 7 blocks away, uh oh, trouble!).  Other than the Swedish Princess torte, try the Strawberry Romanoff (needs to be ordered a day in advance), and the Opera Cake.

I like Schubert's cakes alot but their employee- I think she's russian(but I could be wrong) try to turn me away just because I came on a Saturday and tried to order a cake for a baby shower. She asked me if I can do it online instead. What kind of service is that!  I am not going to drive back home so I can order the cake online when I'm already there! I told my girlfriend to wait for someone else that is willing to help us. That bitch turned me off- she will lose business that way. Other than that- I enjoy their chocolate mousse cake with fresh strawberries. YUM.

I love Schubert's Bakery!

I like getting here early on Saturdays, before 9 am.  I know it sounds crazy, but think about it: at 8:30 am on Saturdays, you don't have to feed the meters, fight the crowds or wait in line.

Sometimes, I come here before breakfast at my Mom and Dad's.  I pick up some raspberry, apricot and plain croissants and "surprise" my parents.  The pastries are incredibly fresh and practically melt in your mouth.  The prices are a bit steep by the Richmond standards, but the pastries are totally worth it.

For special occasions, I always pick up a cake from Schubert's.  The cakes look more expensive than they really are, and you can give your suburban friends a truly jaw-dropping experience.  Comments such as "Aww, you shouldn't have," "How much did THAT cost you???" and "You have GOT to tell me where you got this cake from" are very common.

I strongly recommend a tiramisu cake or a strawberry/raspberry mousse cake.  They're moist, light and, forgive the cliche, "sinfully delicious."  All cakes are beautifully decorated with chocolate shavings, bonbons, strawberries, etc.  Schubert's will gladly write your message in frosting on a piece of chocolate and place it tastefully right on your cake.  Whether you're saying "Happy Birthday," "Will you marry me?" "I think we should see other people" or "Sorry I ran over your dog," your message will look and taste beautiful.

I am not a fan of their Opera cake (it's just too rich for me) or their cheesecake (it doesn't really taste like a cheesecake should), but everything else is absolutely great.  Try it, and I guarantee you'll be hooked on Schubert's.

Must . . . have . . . more . . . cake!

THE BEST LOOKING and THE BEST TASTING pastries and cakes that I've had since I don't know when.  They had a tiramisu cake (a small one) that was so moist and so delicious.  All of their cakes are moist, which I love.  A lot of bakeries can't seem to get that.  Their mousses are actually pretty good, too, and I usually don't like mousse cakes.  If I'm ever in a bad mood, this is where I'll go...

You are what's wrong with the world these days. How dare you set up shop many years before my dentist did and entice me to eat your sugary confectionery goodness! How dare you for being sooo decadently scrumptious and consistent with your total awesomeness!!! I swear, you are the cause of a majority of my cavities and may have contributed to my low level diabetes! But I can't help but run back into your arms each and everytime I go see my dentist...Hell, I show up at your door step even when I don't have a dentist appointment just to spend money on you...Oh, such a pitiful existence I am of a man...Brought to my over dramatic knees by something as simple as a mango pudding cake...Woe, is me...Woe, is me...

Sorry for being overly dramatic but that kinda sums up my relationship for Schubert's. I thank my aunt for showing up one day with a tiramisu cake that they make...Freaking FABULOUS with the loud flamboyant gay voice! And ever since I knew it was right across the street from my dentist, I was in heaven and hell at the same time. Thank god for dental insurance!

Delicious berry cheesecake and strawberry shortcake!  There were so many fresh strawberries and perfectly sweet whipped cream on the shortcake.  There are mini cakes that you can get for about $4-5.  I like that because it's the perfect sampler.  You can get four different flavors for the price of one regular sized cake.  I thought the mango mousse and strawberry mousse were so good!

and Schubert's comes through again!  This place saved me when I needed to bring something to our work potluck for the 4th, and a fruit torte it was.  Very good, and reasonably priced!  Today, I got the princess cake to share with another group, and thankfully, it was a huge hit!  I was hesitant at first to purchase it, thinking it would be too sweet or heavy, but it looked and tasted wonderful.  I'm not much of cake person, so I was there for 20 minutes trying to decide what to purchase.  The lady at the counter was so patient with me...they must encounter that numerous times daily, but everything looks so tempting, it's difficult to choose.

Best chocolate croissant I've had, ever.  And cheap.  I usually pay more for dry croissants.

Next on the list, I'm going to try a mousse cake.  Or maybe I'll bring that to the next work potluck.

You would never expect this bakery to be in the middle of all the Asian places on Clement.

My family and I have ordered many cakes here for special occassions.  And each time, Schubert's has done beautiful jobs for us.  My favorite cake is the Pink Champagne.  I also like to add on the lady fingers, and they do so without charging me extra.  They always do a great job with tyring to accomodate my picky needs as well.

All in all, I will continue to get my cakes and pastries from Schubert's.

My favorite bakery of all!!! I used to come every other week but it was a bit much....so, now I come only once a month. If there's isn't an occasion for cake, I get a personal one for MYSELF! They  are the only place that I know that has the Opera cake --hazelnut sponge with chocolate truffle and mocha-praline filling topped with toasted almonds ! MMMmmmMMMMm
